Welcome to Brunton House and Cottages, a collection of exquisite holiday homes nestled between the historic towns of Alnwick and Bamburgh in the heart of Northumberland, England. Our properties are situated on the edge of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering guests a tranquil and picturesque retreat with stunning views towards the sea and Beadnell Bay.

Our portfolio includes Brunton House, a magnificent 16-person self-catering holiday house featuring fabulous entertaining spaces, generous bedrooms, and 8 bathrooms. Adjacent to Brunton House, you will find Stable Cottage (sleeps 6), Mill Race (sleeps 4), and Brunton Burn (sleeps 2), each offering unique charm and character.

In 2023, we expanded our offerings to include Garden Cottage (sleeps 2), Long Byre (sleeps 2), Swallow Dean (sleeps 2), Brunton Lake (sleeps 4), and The Granary (sleeps 8) - each carefully crafted and designed to provide the perfect setting for your stay. These properties breathe new life into beautiful, old stone buildings, which have been part of the Fallodon Estate dating back to 1793.

Mark Bridgeman - The Story Behind Brunton House and Cottages

Mark Bridgeman, the proud owner of Brunton House and Cottages, was born and raised on the Fallodon Estate. After years of farming Brunton with his father and eventually moving back to the estate with his family in 2006, Mark saw the potential of the old stone farm buildings from the 1800s. With his wife, Lucia, they undertook an ambitious renovation project, transforming the old cattle sheds into two charming holiday cottages - Mill Race and Brunton Burn.

The demand for peaceful, rural holidays close to Beadnell Bay prompted Lucia to completely renovate Brunton House in 2013, resulting in the creation of an award-winning, luxurious, self-catering, 8-bedroom 'home from home'. Stable Cottage was added in 2017, followed by four more cottages and the revival of the centuries-old granary in 2022.

Experience the Brunton Estate

Guests are welcome to explore the estate, which is a haven for wildlife, including red squirrels, deer, otters, and a wide variety of birdlife. Enjoy fabulous walks, excellent cycling on the beautiful 'The Coast and Castles Cycle Route 1', and fishing on a well-stocked trout lake.

Brunton's rich history can be traced back to the 13th century, when the first reference was made to Brunton Mill. The old mill building stands beside Brunton Burn cottage and once housed a waterwheel, millstream, and sluice gates. The estate was owned by the Grey family in the 19th century and was eventually acquired by the Bridgeman family in 1945.

As a proud steward of this historic estate, our mission is to ensure that our guests have the most comfortable and memorable stay. We have equipped each property with modern amenities and luxuries that blend seamlessly with the properties' original features and charm. Our commitment to sustainability is evident in the use of two large woodchip boilers that heat all of the holiday properties and the use of logs from the estate for wood-burning stoves and open fires.

On behalf of the Brunton House and Cottages team, we look forward to welcoming you and making your stay an unforgettable experience.
