Our Story
Our Managing Director, Mike Watts, has had a long and distinguished career in finance, with experience in both the public and private sectors. After working as a Finance Director for a large accountancy firm, Mike noticed a gap in the market for a more flexible and client-centric approach to accounting and financial management. In 2014, he founded The Finance Department, with a mission to shake up the market and provide a new and exciting way for businesses to manage their finances.

Our team is comprised of experienced and qualified professionals, including our Commercial Director, Jo Watts, who brings her expertise from running her own retail business in Torbay. Our Finance Manager, Emma Sturgess, is a Xero Certified Advisor and has extensive knowledge of bookkeeping software. Our Finance Controller, Teresa Grieve, has a wealth of experience across various industries, including manufacturing, services, charities, and the public sector.
