About Me

My interest in music dates back to childhood, singing in the local church choir with my family. This interest led to an appreciation of church organs and keyboard instruments in general. Steinway & Sons was the biggest name I knew in pianos, so I got my dad to give them a ring. I became apprenticed to Steinway & Sons in London at the age of sixteen and went on to study for my City and Guilds in Musical Instrument Technology at the London College of Furniture, now the London Metropolitan University.

My experience working abroad for The Piano Workshop (Mattsson and McGehee Pianovaerkstedet) and Egtved Pianofabrik has given me a unique perspective on piano restoration and repair. After returning to England, I worked for ABC Music, Esher, in sales and technical work before establishing Tim Hendy Pianos Ltd in 2004.
