Celebrating the Arts, Remembering the Past, Building the Future

At the heart of Frome, Somerset, lies a treasured gem - the Frome Memorial Theatre. This historic venue has been the focal point of entertainment and community gatherings for nearly a century. Our theatre is a testament to the town's rich history and a symbol of remembrance for those who fell in the 1st World War.

Our History

Originally opened in 1925 as a memorial hall, the theatre has undergone transformations over the years. In the 1930s, seating was installed to accommodate cinema enthusiasts, and it traded as "The Grand". Today, our theatre is not only a tribute to the fallen but also a vibrant hub for performances, events, and community activities.

Our Services

We offer a diverse range of services to cater to the needs of our patrons and the local community. Our theatre hosts various performances, including comedy nights, musicals, and tribute acts. The Assembly Rooms, a multipurpose space, is available for private hire, making it an ideal venue for weddings, conferences, and other events. Our friendly box office team is always ready to assist with ticket bookings, and our volunteers ensure that every event runs smoothly.

The Assembly Rooms

The Assembly Rooms, formerly known as the Hexagon Suite, were added to the complex in the 1970s. This versatile space has been a hub of community activity, hosting numerous events and functions. Today, it remains a popular choice for private hire, offering a unique setting for celebrations and gatherings.

Supporting the Community

At Frome Memorial Theatre, we are proud to be a part of the local community. We rely on the support of over 100 volunteers who give their time and expertise to ensure the smooth operation of our theatre. Our annual Remembrance Service, held in November, is a poignant reminder of our theatre's history and significance.

Getting Involved

If you're passionate about the arts and community, we invite you to join us. Become a volunteer, join our membership scheme, or attend one of our many events. Together, we can continue to make the Frome Memorial Theatre a thriving centre of entertainment and community spirit.
