Wessex Motors. This is a negative review due to the attitude of the Manager. (I have always found most of the staff and mechanics at Wessex Motors to be helpful and friendly). My wifes Audi Q5 Quattro was booked in at Wessex Motors for an MOT and dashboard Brake Warning light ON. I informed them that I thought the rear brakes pads may need replacing.
Having delivered the car I was phoned a few hours later by the manager informing me that the car had Passed its MOT and was ready for collection but that the Brake Warning Light was still ON due to a possibly wiring fault and I would need to have it inspected by an auto electrician.
During this brief conversation I advised him that my wife would not accept the car back nor drive it with the Brake Warning Light still ON. I was then told something to the effect that they would have another quick look at it. It transpired that a brake sensor was faulty a common problem and an easily traceable and simple fix. On collecting the car I mentioned amicably and calmly to the manager that my wife was not happy that the car was going to be returned to her with the Brake Warning Light still illuminated on the dashboard.
He immediately became somewhat annoyed and indeed confrontational at my comment and told me I was being argumentative when in fact I was simply stating the truth. The fact of the matter is that Wessex Motors were returning the car to be driven on the road with the Brake Warning Light ON having not bothered to taken the extra time to discover the reason or a possible serious defect. I am aware of MOT inspection procedures, rules and regulations.
Needless to say, my wife, my daughter my son and I will not be booking our cars into Wessex Motors again.
