Welcome to Kitchens Furniture Blog, a Somerset-based company specialising in the design and fabrication of handmade, bespoke kitchens. Our dedicated team of skilled craftspeople are committed to producing top-quality kitchens that are tailored to each customer's unique vision and the architectural features of their space. We strive to combine imaginative design with exceptional cabinet-making skills and the use of superior materials to create kitchens that are both functional and beautiful.
In addition to our bespoke kitchens, we also design and create hidden bookcase doors and other custom-made furniture, such as bookcases, tables, wardrobes, and bathroom cabinets. At Kitchens Furniture Blog, we are dedicated to providing our clients with exceptional furniture that meets their specific needs and enhances their living spaces.
Design Process
Our design process involves several stages, beginning with a meeting or communication via email and phone to discuss your ideas, requirements, preferences, and the specific possibilities and limitations of the room. Following this initial discussion, we will produce a plan - an overhead view - of the kitchen and a costing based on the plan and a description of the cabinetry. We will present you with various options, and if you are interested in pursuing the project further with us, we will discuss any revisions you might wish to make to the original specifications. We will then provide you with detailed elevational views and a fixed quotation. Once you place an order, we will agree on a schedule for making and fitting your kitchen. Our team of five skilled and experienced furniture makers will then build and install your kitchen.
Values
At Kitchens Furniture Blog, we hold the following values:
- Good communication with the customer to ensure that we understand your requirements and you are clear about our intentions and costs.
- Excellence in design and workmanship.
- Use of sustainably sourced timber.
- Punctual delivery and installation.
Prices
The main factors determining costs are the amount of cabinetry and the type of detailing in the design. As a rough guide, excluding VAT, small kitchens start from around 15,000; medium-sized kitchens start from around 19,000; and large kitchens start from around 23,000. Appliances and worktops are extra. We can explain how costs can be significantly affected by different design details and methods of construction. We do not charge for drawing an initial plan of the proposed kitchen layout and an estimate of costs. Any further work we are asked to do is negotiated with the customer.

"My wife auditioned a cabinet (collective noun for kitchen designers?) of companies. David Craigie stood out for his attention to detail, his trustworthiness, and the way his team seemed totally absorbed by - and proud of - their work. We were given a tour of the workshop before we made any commitment - well worth doing. David's design and attention to detail was second to none. The quality of workmanship is exemplary, the fitters (DC sends at least one of the cabinet makers to do the fit which is a brilliant move to ensure everything is installed carefully) painstaking and the final result went beyond our expectations. In a previous house, we commissioned a new kitchen from probably London's most expensive kitchen designer. Our Craigie Woodworks kitchen was bigger (i.e. involved more work), around half the price, and is probably, on balance, better made. We cannot recommend them highly enough." - S & BF, Pewsey, Wiltshire
"Absolute Abode Design has worked with David on numerous occasions, engaging Craigie Woodworks to create and install kitchen and bespoke cabinetry for bathrooms and studies. David is extremely personable, provides great service, and his work is of extremely high quality. He provides excellent construction drawings and installation always goes very smoothly. I would highly recommend Craigie Woodworks." - Kirsty McMorron, Absolute Abode Design, Raynes Park, London
"Having recently moved to the South West our first major project renovating our large Victorian property was to create and design a new kitchen in a central location in the house. We invited several firms to provide input and quote for the work. Immediately we knew David Craigie was a good listener and he took on bo
