Welcome to the Thai Cottage, Berkhamsted's authentic Thai food restaurant. We are proud to offer a truly unique dining experience, combining the rich flavours of traditional Thai cuisine with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our restaurant is owned by Mrs Lamun Burasit and her English husband, who have brought the taste of Thailand to Berkhamsted. Lamun has lived in the UK for nearly two decades and has extensive experience in the Thai restaurant industry. Together, they have created a dining experience that is sure to transport you to the streets of Bangkok.
The Restaurant
The Thai Cottage is designed to recreate a traditional Thai atmosphere, with teak wood fittings imported from Thailand. The timber used in the restaurant is over 100 years old and comes from the old Thai capital of Ayutthaya, located approximately 100 miles north of Bangkok. The teak tables, chairs, and panelling create an authentic and inviting ambiance that is perfect for any occasion. Our kitchen staff have been with us since we opened, providing a consistency and familiarity that is reflected in the quality of our food.
Our Menu
Our menu features a wide variety of traditional Thai dishes, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. We offer a range of options to suit any dietary preference, from vegetarian and vegan dishes to spicy curries and flavourful stir-fries. Our Head Chef joined us from Bahn Khanitha restaurant in Bangkok, where she had won the award for 'Best Thai restaurant in Bangkok' for six consecutive years. With her expertise and experience, we are able to offer a menu that is both authentic and delicious.
