Knossington & Somerby Pre School

Knossington & Somerby Pre-school is a unique and special place, nestled in the heart of a small rural community in the village of Knossington. As an Ofsted Outstanding pre-school, we believe that outdoor learning is essential, and our picturesque location allows us to provide our children with a range of unique learning experiences. From feeding cade lambs to picking blackberries in the fields, composting and growing vegetables in our allotment garden, and going on local farm walks and Easter egg hunts in the village church, our children are encouraged to explore and learn in a fun and interactive way.

Our Facilities

Our pre-school is located in Knossington Village Hall, a lovely old building with plenty of character. The children have access to the outside area at all times, and can choose to do most things outside if they wish. We also have access to a large park just a 2-minute walk from the Village Hall, which provides the perfect space for outdoor play and exploration. Additionally, we have recently secured funding to pilot an 'out and about' scheme, which allows us to take the children on regular trips out and about in the local area. Our staff ratios are high, typically 1:4, allowing for flexibility and 1-to-1 working.

Our Services

At Knossington & Somerby Pre-school, we provide a high standard of care and education within the Early Years Foundation framework. Our dedicated and nurturing staff work closely with parents and carers to ensure that each child's individual needs are met, and that they feel safe, happy, and valued. We offer a range of services, including a 'settling in' period to help new children adjust to our pre-school, a range of activities and experiences designed to promote learning and development, and a commitment to working closely with outside agencies to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

We also believe in working closely with parents and carers to ensure that each child's individual needs are met, and that they are provided with the best possible start in life.
