Ferndale Residential Care Home

Ferndale Care Home is a splendid detached three-storey Victorian house, located in Southbourne, Emsworth, near Chichester. It is situated on the border of Hampshire and West Sussex, just a mile away from the seafront, and approximately two miles from the centre of Emsworth with all its amenities. This care home has been tastefully modernised to provide superior, caring accommodation for older people, including those with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Our guiding principle is that Ferndale is the residents' home, and their move into residential care should enhance, rather than restrict, their lives. We believe that residents should be encouraged to maintain their independence, choice, and control over their care, and we strive to provide a comfortable, secure, and happy environment for them to live in. Residents are encouraged to furnish their rooms with personal items and familiar objects, and their individual right to privacy, dignity, and respect is honoured at all times.

Philosophy of Care

Ferndale Care Home aims to assist each resident to live as independently as possible, with a fulfilling life. We recognise the importance of physical care, but we also believe that stimulation, companionship, and encouragement are equally important. We encourage residents to follow the hobbies, interests, and social activities that they previously enjoyed, as far as is compatible with their current state of comprehension, awareness, and manual dexterity.

We provide professional 24-hour care every day of the year and strive to exceed the 'Essential Standards of Quality and Safety for Care Homes'. We understand that end-of-life care is a critical aspect of our service, and we treat our residents with respect and dignity at all times, but especially as they approach the end of their lives. Our staff are trained to ensure that we offer people the maximum level of independence, choice, and control about their care. We will actively support our residents to stay at Ferndale, in a familiar environment, and around people they know, as long as possible.

We work alongside other professionals to provide relief from pain and any other symptoms, and we ensure privacy is adhered to. Accommodation

All residents at Ferndale Care Home are accommodated in single rooms, which are warm, comfortable, and well-equipped. Each room contains a wash hand basin, a television, and a staff call system. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture, pictures, and other personal items to make their room feel like home. We believe that familiar surroundings can help residents settle in more easily and feel more comfortable in their new environment.
