Here at The Old Malthouse, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional care for older people living with Dementia in our beautiful 16th Century building in the peaceful coastal village of Selsey. Our home is situated a short walk from the village shops and seafront, and we're dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition into our care for all our residents.

Our Expertise

We specialise in care for older people living with Dementia, and our highly trained staff are selected for their compassion, ability to listen, and communicate with those in their care. We understand the importance of individuality, and our care team works closely with each resident and their family to compile care plans that recognise and cater to their unique needs. Our goal is to provide a high standard of care in a safe environment, while also promoting independence and individuality.

Our Facilities and Services

Our home boasts many of its original features, including a large open fireplace that dominates the lounge, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere perfect for relaxing afternoons. We have two large dining rooms for residents to use, and we encourage family members to join them for meals. Our bedrooms are light and fully furnished, with ensuite facilities, and residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture to personalise their rooms. We also offer a range of facilities and services, including a weekly hairdresser visit, a chiropodist visit every 6 weeks, and arrangements for dentist and opticians visits upon request.

Activities and Community

We're extremely proud of our activities programme, which is designed to stimulate both mentally and physically. Our dedicated activities coordinators are passionate about ensuring our activity schedule caters to the individual needs and preferences of each resident. We offer a range of activities, including group and one-to-one sessions, and we often have external entertainers providing activities. We also access the local community regularly, with residents attending the "Shop" in the village, a cafe for locals living with Dementia, as well as visiting the local churches, seaside, shops, and community shows.
