Our Story

Our journey began when Matt Jardine, our founder, took the first step towards fulfilling his childhood dream of designing and making furniture. After completing a joinery apprenticeship, Matt worked for a local cabinetmaker before establishing MJ Cabinetmakers in April 2000. Over the years, our team has grown, and we now work from a purpose-built workshop and showroom at Braithwaite, near Keswick, with a stunning view of Skiddaw. Our reputation has been built on the simple principle of strong design and quality in making, and we continue to prioritize this in every piece we create.
