About Us
As a qualified therapist with over 23 years of experience in the field of addiction counselling, I understand the struggles of addiction and the importance of seeking professional help. My name is Victoria Abadi, and I have worked with numerous individuals and families affected by addiction, offering a safe and confidential environment for them to share their stories and work towards recovery.
My Journey
My own personal experience of addiction has given me a unique perspective and understanding of the struggles faced by those affected. I have worked in the addiction field since 1994, with a strong background in counselling and therapy. My career began in 1994, where I worked for Avon Counselling and Psychotherapy, providing one-to-one alcohol and drugs counselling and group work in the community and prisons. I qualified as a postgraduate counsellor from the University of the West of England in 1997.
My Qualifications and Training
Throughout my career, I have continued to update my professional development, ensuring that I remain up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in addiction therapy. My qualifications include being a fully insured MBACP and FDAP certified counsellor. I have completed training in CBT, family intervention, CYP (working with children and young people), group work, and mindfulness.
My Expertise
As a therapist, I specialise in working with individuals and families affected by addiction. I offer a range of therapy services, including individual counselling, couple counselling, and family counselling. My expertise includes working with a wide range of addictive behaviours, such as:
- Addiction to alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, and shopping
- Compulsive behaviours, such as eating disorders and self-harm
- Relationship addiction and unhealthy relationships
- Mental health concerns, including OCD and depression
Therapy Approach
My therapy approach is tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual or family. I use evidence-based techniques, including CBT, to help individuals understand the underlying causes of their addiction and to develop healthy coping mechanisms. My goal is to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space for individuals and families to work through their struggles and achieve a fulfilling and addiction-free life.
About My Practice
I work from a private practice in Hale, Altrincham, and offer both in-person and online therapy sessions. I also provide training and workshops to healthcare professionals, as well as public courses on topics such as assertiveness, self-compassion, and anger management.
