Expertise, Authenticity, Discretion

Established in 1993, Dickinson has been one of the world's leading private art galleries for over thirty years, handling exceptional works of art across categories from Old Masters to Impressionist and Modern art. Our philosophy is to offer collectors the opportunity to buy masterpieces of Western art from the Renaissance to the Twentieth Century, providing the provenance and scholarly background to each painting and sculpture, and advising on framing, hanging and all other aspects of collecting.

Our History

Dickinson was founded in 1993 by Simon Dickinson, formerly Senior Director of Christie's Old Master & British Pictures, and David Ker, a dealer in British Pictures. The firm rapidly earned its reputation as a leading London dealership for Old Master & British Paintings. Soon after, Dickinson opened a gallery in New York. In 1995, Dickinson broadened its scope to include Impressionist & Modern Art under the direction of James Roundell, formerly Head of Christie's Impressionist & Modern Department, and shortly thereafter the company expanded further still into secondary market Contemporary Art.

Our Expertise

Our founder and chairman, Simon Dickinson is known for his famously discerning eye for paintings, and has discovered works by Botticelli, Titian, Rubens and Constable and many others in a career lasting more than fifty years. Simon is a passionate collector and advocate for Old Master Paintings. Dickinson has recently opened a new chapter with the arrival of Milo Dickinson as Managing Director. Echoing the career of his father, Milo joined from Christie's where he worked for over a decade in several leading roles in both the Old Master Paintings and European Sculpture departments.
