St Saviours Pre School

At St Saviour's Pre-School and Nursery, we pride ourselves in providing a safe, stimulating, and caring environment for children from 2 to 5 years old. Our mission is to support children in developing socially, physically, and academically through a balanced curriculum of child-led activities, free choice, and adult-led group learning.

Our experienced and highly qualified team of staff have over 100 years of Early Years experience between them, and are dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for the children. We are committed to providing a nurturing and enabling environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and a sense of adventure.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS sets standards for the learning, development, and care of your child from birth to 5 years old. It is organised into 7 areas of learning, which enable children to engage in all areas of learning, even those they may find challenging. The 7 areas of learning are:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

• Children are encouraged to make friends, take turns, and develop self-confidence.

Mathematics

• Sorting, counting, and calculating activities, as well as shape recognition, measuring, weighing, and problem-solving.

Physical Development

• Encouraging children to explore ways of moving and learning to use tools and equipment with greater control.

Communication and Language

• Opportunities to develop speaking and listening skills.

Literacy

• Enjoying a wide range of stories and rhymes, which alongside the exploration of mark-making and pre-reading activities, offers a sound foundation in literacy.

Expressive Arts and Design

• Creative activities, imaginative play, music, movement, dance, and drama.

Understanding the World

• Supporting the development of an interest in science, nature, ITC, design, and construction, and an awareness of different cultures and beliefs.

Information and Dates

Session times are Monday to Friday, 9.15am to 12.15pm. Lunch Club is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 12.15pm to 1pm for children aged 3 years and above. Our term dates are as follows:

• Autumn Term 2023: Induction day Wednesday 6th September (new children only); Term starts Thursday 7th September; Half term Monday 23rd October to Friday 27th October; End of term Friday 15th December.
• Spring Term 2024: Term starts Tuesday 9th January; Spring Half Term Monday 19th February to Friday 23rd February; End of term Friday 22nd March.
• Summer Term 2024: Term starts Tuesday 16th April; Summer Half Term Monday 27th May to Friday 31st May; End of term Tuesday 16th July.
