Established in 1998 by Andrew Soulsby, one of the region's most experienced and qualified music teachers, our studio is based in Whitley Bay and offers a unique and supportive learning environment.

Our Services

Our experienced teachers, Andrew Soulsby and Ross Morton, are dedicated to helping students achieve their musical goals, whether that's preparing for ABRSM examinations, learning for personal enjoyment, or exploring different genres and styles.

In addition to piano and harpsichord lessons, we also offer a range of additional services, including exam accompaniments, vocal coaching, and audition coaching. Our teachers are passionate about providing students with performance opportunities, and we regularly host student concerts in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Our Teachers

Andrew Soulsby, the founder of 1685 Piano & Harpsichord Tuition, has over 26 years of experience as a piano and harpsichord teacher. He holds a B/Mus(Hons) in performance from the University of Huddersfield and the DipABRSM in performance on both piano and harpsichord. Andrew's extensive experience and qualifications make him an exceptional teacher, and his students have gone on to study music at some of the country's most prestigious musical establishments.

Ross Morton, our newest member of the team, began teaching here in 2022. He has 6 years of experience as a freelance musician and is currently studying for his DipABRSM with Andrew Soulsby. Ross is an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about sharing his love of music with students of all ages.
