McCallums Foods is a proud family business, established in 1997 in a former butcher's shop in Prestwick. Our Managing Director, Chris McCallum, brings over 30 years of industry experience as a butcher and retailer to the table. Chris is supported by a skilled Factory Manager, Ian Telford, and a team of highly trained butchers who meticulously craft our products on the production line. Our administration team, based in an on-site office, offers excellent customer service and support to our valued clients.

As a family business, we take great pride in employing local people from Ayrshire in our factory. We are committed to producing premium local products and have built a strong reputation as a leading Scottish brand. Through our partnership with Spar and McColls, we are pleased to provide traditional butcher-style products, fresh from Ayrshire, to convenience stores across Scotland.

At McCallums Foods, we prioritize food safety and hygiene. All production staff members receive regular training and hold at least an Elementary level food hygiene certification. We are a licensed and approved facility overseen by our local environmental health authority, ensuring that we meet the highest food safety standards.

Our History

McCallums Foods started in a humble butcher's shop in Prestwick, producing high-quality traditional sausage products for local shops and our own stores. Due to the growing demand for our butcher-style products, we relocated to a larger, custom-built 4000sq ft facility in 2001. This new location included a state-of-the-art production and packaging line, enabling us to significantly increase our volume and production capacity.

Today, McCallums Foods have established themselves as a SALSA-approved supplier of chilled sausage products, haggis, burgers, black pudding, and cooked meats to Spar convenience stores and the wider Scottish convenience retail sector. Our expansion provides consumers all over Scotland with a true taste of Ayrshire.

The Factory

Located in Ayr, our factory is a modern, state-of-the-art facility where we use traditional production methods to create premium quality sausages you'd find at farmers' markets and local butcher stores across Scotland. We take numerous measures to ensure food safety, meeting stringent standards by adhering to EU regulations and employing HACCP principles. Our commitment to food safety, quality, and tradition has positioned McCallums Foods as a trusted and respected producer of premium Scottish produce.

Our famous Ayrshire sausage products are crafted with quality local meat from assured farms and produced fresh daily. We take great care in offering a diverse range of products, including sliced sausage, pork sausages, pork and beef sausages, black pudding, fruit pudding, cocktail sausages, haggis, tasty burgers, original burgers with onion, pork & apple burgers, beef burgers with onion & sausage meat stuffings, chopped pork, corned beef, cooked ham, gammon, and more.

We also manufacture a line of products under the Spar "own brand" label, making our high-quality products accessible to households across Scotland.
