We are a family-run business situated in the heart of Lanarkshire and Ayrshire, dedicated to celebrating the rich heritage of local produce and promoting the importance of "field to fork" freshness. Our vision is to create a warm and inviting space where customers can experience the best of rural living, showcasing the region's seasonal bounty through our farm shop and kitchen cafe.
Our Story
The Heron Farm Shop & Kitchen is the brainchild of Emma and Angus, who, along with their children, have lived on their 122-acre farm since 2008. Initially, they focused on establishing a flock of Scottish Blackface breeding ewes and planting a Christmas tree plantation. Over time, they diversified into agrotourism, and in 2018, they designed and built a brand new green oak-framed building, which is now home to our farm shop and kitchen cafe. In 2022, we proudly launched our new events space, The Heron Byre, perfect for weddings, functions, and corporate meetings.
The Farm Shop
Located in our beautifully relaxing green oak-framed building, our farm shop offers a wide range of fresh, chilled, and frozen produce sourced from local farmers and suppliers. We also offer a variety of rural-inspired gifts, perfect for friends and family or as a treat for yourself. From artisanal cheeses to freshly baked bread, our shelves are stocked with an array of delicious goodies to tantalize your taste buds.
Kitchen Cafe
Step into our cozy kitchen cafe, where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch, or a simple coffee and cake. Our menu is carefully crafted to reflect our ethos of using fresh, in-season produce from the farm shop, giving customers the opportunity to sample many of the goods on offer before they buy. We bake every day, producing a vast range of scones, traybakes, and cakes to enjoy alongside our expertly brewed coffees, teas, and hot chocolates. And, don't forget, we're dog-friendly, with a dedicated indoor seating area and outdoor covered "dog pods" for your furry friends to enjoy!
