Where every occasion becomes a memorable experience

At the heart of Tring, Hertfordshire, lies a gem of a venue that has been delighting customers for over a decade. The Akeman, built on the ancient Roman road of Akeman Street in 1901, reopened its doors in 2007, offering a unique blend of rich history, stunning architecture, and exceptional dining experience. Our vision was to create an environment where like-minded people could come together to enjoy some great food and drinks while catching up with friends, family, neighbours, and colleagues.

Our Story

Founded in 2005, Oakman Inns & Restaurants has a long-standing reputation for providing exceptional service, delicious food, and an unparalleled atmosphere. The Akeman, one of our flagship venues, is a testament to our commitment to excellence. Our Victorian building, designed by acclaimed local architect William Huckvale, retains several original features, including the stunning Victorian facade and the beautiful fireplace in the bar. The wood panelling, full-length windows, and warm decor have transformed us into a destination venue, located just seconds away from the centre of town.

Our Services

We take pride in offering an extensive range of services to cater to various tastes and preferences. From our Mediterranean-inspired food menu, available from 8am, Monday to Saturday, and 9am on Sunday, to our carefully curated drinks menu, featuring an impressive wine list and locally sourced beers, we have something for everyone. Our menu includes steaks and fish cooked in our charcoal-fuelled Josper grill, as well as pizzas, pasta dishes, and home comforts, like our 12-hour roasted pork belly. We also offer takeaway and delivery services, making it convenient for our customers to enjoy our delicious food from the comfort of their own homes.

What Our Guests Say

But don't just take our word for it! Our guests have rave reviews about their experiences at The Akeman. From "Fabulous venue for our baby shower" to "I highly recommend The Akeman", our customers have consistently praised our friendly staff, delicious food, and warm atmosphere. We're proud to have become a go-to destination for special occasions, casual gatherings, and everything in between.
