Our History
The Lighthouse Nursery School was founded in 1990 by Sally Fitchett, and initially operated from two village halls. In 1998, we moved to our current purpose-designed school in the picturesque countryside of Newington, South Oxfordshire. Our beautiful setting boasts three well-equipped classrooms, each with its own outside area, as well as additional facilities for Larks and Owls, Music, Dance, and Seagulls activities during holiday periods. We have also developed The Field, which provides a range of outdoor activities, including planting and digging areas, a mound, and a log pile.
Our Approach
We are proud to be a Montessori-based school, and our approach is centered around the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori. Our curriculum is carefully structured to link with both Montessori and EYFS frameworks, ensuring a comprehensive and well-rounded education. We use the My Montessori Child digital tracking system to monitor each child's progress, and our experienced teachers work closely with parents to provide a tailored approach that suits individual needs. Our Montessori environment is carefully prepared to foster social development, spiritual awareness, and a sense of responsibility, while also providing love and support to parents.

Misleading Name and Expectations
Guy Vam gave a rating of 2 stars. The review mentioned that the name of the nursery is very misleading, expecting full waterproofs and boat activities, but found it not good enough overall.
