Established 35 years ago, D.H. Lees & Sons Butchers has been a pillar of the High Crompton, Shaw community, serving the public with high-quality produce and traditional values. Our story began when Mr Harry Schofield opened the shop just after the 2nd World War. The shop flourished under the Schofield family, and when it was taken over by Mr Schofield's daughter and son-in-law John and Brenda Fitton, it was run alongside Mr Fitton's successful farm and wholesale meat business.
In 1987, a young improver was employed - Darrel Lees from Newhey. Over the next 19 years, with the support and backing of the Fitton family, Mr Lees started to introduce more variety to the already established traditional values. The increase in business was a great success, and eventually, Mr Lees took over the ownership in 2006, continuing to source all his British beef, lamb, and pork from Mr Fitton's expanding wholesale meat business at Cowlishaw farm Royton (J&B Fitton ltd).
At D.H. Lees & Sons Butchers, we offer a wide range of high-quality produce that is locally sourced, ensuring the freshest and best quality meats for our customers. Our selection includes British Beef, English Lamb, and English Pork, as well as Home Made Sausages, Poultry, and Homemade Pies & Puddings. We also have a variety of new ranges, such as 7-day family packs, BBQ packs, and a selection of large pies and rag puddings.
We are proud to serve not only the public but also many local restaurants, offering discounts for bulk and freezer orders. Our traditional cuts of meat are complemented by our variety of new ranges, offering something for every budget and occasion.

Darrel Lees, Owner: Darrel Lees started butchering at 13 while still at school in Milnrow. He has worked at D.H. Lees & Sons Butchers for 35 years and has owned the business for 15 years, having risen from apprentice to owner. Darrel's commitment to providing high-quality produce and traditional values has made D.H. Lees & Sons Butchers a beloved institution in the High Crompton, Shaw community.
Tommy Lees, Butcher: Tommy Lees is the son of the owner Darrel and is one of our highly skilled butchers in all aspects of the trade. Tommy's expertise and skill in butchery have made him an invaluable asset to the team.
Zena Rodgers, Pie Maker: Zena Rodgers is our in-house homemade pie and rag pudding baker. Zena has many years of experience in the catering industry and brings her skills and expertise to D.H. Lees & Sons Butchers, producing delicious homemade pies and rag puddings for our customers to enjoy.
