Experience the authentic taste of Japan in the heart of London

Established in 1978, Kiku is London's oldest family-run Japanese restaurant, proudly serving authentic Japanese cuisine in the heart of Mayfair for over 40 years. Our commitment to quality and tradition has earned us a reputation as a beloved institution amongst the Japanese community and beyond.

Our Story

Our story begins in 1864, when a traditional inn, or ryokan, called Mikuniya was established in the small town of Kinosaki, Japan. As a young boy, Hisashi, the third generation of the family business, was fascinated by Japanese cooking. He moved to London in 1968, inspired to bring Japanese cuisine to England. In 1978, Kiku opened its doors in Shepherd's Market, quickly becoming well-known amongst the Japanese community. As the cuisine became more familiar, so too did the popularity of Kiku.
