Welcome to DBC Carpentry and Joinery, a small firm with more than 30 years' woodworking experience. Our team, led by Dave, a qualified carpenter and joiner since 1991, specialises in bespoke free-standing or built-in joinery and cabinetry as well as the renovation of historical and heritage buildings, general carpentry, and other home improvements.

With a wealth of experience in the industry, we take pride in offering a personalized service to our clients, working closely with them to understand their unique requirements and providing bespoke solutions that meet their needs. We are committed to using only sustainable timber sources and recently completed a project using entirely reclaimed stock. Additionally, we offer free quotations and advice and carry full Public Liability insurance.

What is Carpentry and What is Joinery?

While the terms "carpentry" and "joinery" are often used interchangeably, there is a distinction between the two trades. Carpentry usually refers to the cutting and fitting of pre-formed building materials and pre-milled timber sections using glue, nails, and screws. On the other hand, joinery traditionally refers to the joining of timber without the use of nails or screws, using reliable joints such as the dovetail or the mortice and tenon.
