Empowering young minds through learning and play
Welcome to Elmstead Nursery, a warm and welcoming environment where we provide continuous day care and education for children aged from 2 to 4 years. Our nursery is rated outstanding by Ofsted and is situated within the grounds of Elmstead Primary School, allowing for smooth transitions from nursery to school. We are a small, family-run nursery with a team of experienced and dedicated professionals who are passionate about providing a broad and balanced curriculum in a happy, caring, and stimulating environment.
Our Team
Our team is led by Nursery Teacher, Mrs Sandra Davison, who has an MA in Early Years Professional Practice and has been with us since 2001. We are proud to have a team of experienced and dedicated professionals, including Lisa Toole, Nursery Assistant and Deputy, who has a Diploma in Pre-School Practice and has been with us since 2001, and Lorraine Wallis, Nursery Assistant, who has a Diploma in Pre-School Practice and has been with us since 2009. Our team is committed to providing the highest quality care and education for our children.
Our Nursery
Our purpose-built nursery is bright, modern, and spacious, with various activity areas including a reading corner, role play area, creative table, and sand and water play. We also have a large outdoor play area, comprising a grassed area with play equipment, a mud kitchen, a sandpit, a covered section for outdoor play in all weathers, and a wildlife section where children can learn about nature. Our nursery is designed to encourage the children to be curious, creative, and active, and to provide opportunities for them to develop their skills and abilities.
A Typical Day
Each day at Elmstead Nursery is divided into three sessions: morning, lunch, and afternoon. Our days are filled with a mix of adult-led and child-led activities, which promote development in all the areas of learning as specified in the Early Years Foundation Stage. We offer activities in Personal Social and Emotional, Communication and Language, Physical, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.
Mat time is when the children come together as a whole group for singing, story, showing, and the letter of the week. Our nursery curriculum incorporates a weekly theme, and children are encouraged to find items within the Nursery connected with that week's topic or letter. Parents are provided with half-term plans, which outline the proposed weekly themes and activities. These are flexible and may change depending on the children's interests and requirements.
Pricing and Funding
There are various options for funding available to eligible families, including the FEEE2W scheme for two-year-old children of working parents, and the FEEE2 scheme for certain two-year-olds who meet specific criteria. For those who do not meet the eligibility criteria, we offer competitive rates for our services.
At Elmstead Nursery, we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, and we are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports their growth and development. We invite you to come and visit us to learn more about our nursery and how we can support your child's educational journey.
