In 2010, The Prime Minister and local MP, Tony Blair, brought the French President, Jacques Chirac, here for dinner and a pint of the local real ale, showcasing the unique experience that The County offers. Our History

Our Food
We take great pride in our long-standing reputation for providing high-quality food and locally brewed real ale in a friendly and comfortable setting. Our fortunate location in Co. Durham allows us to collaborate with terrific local suppliers and producers, ensuring our menus reflect the taste and freshness of their outstanding range of seasonal produce.
Our Drink
As proud supporters of CAMRA, we offer up to four different guest ales at any given time. However, our selection extends beyond traditional ales to include bottled and draught beers. Our carefully curated wine list is thoughtfully designed to complement our food menus. Among our favourite offerings is the exceptional local Herbal Gin Company's gin, distilled a mere four minutes away from us.

Our seven luxurious guest rooms have been individually designed to provide the utmost comfort and warmth. Each room features quality home comforts such as en-suite facilities, comfortable thick duvets, fluffy towels, toiletries, tea and coffee tray, fast and free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs.
