The Little House

At The Little House, we believe that a fulfilled child is a happy child. Our purpose is to help each child take their first steps towards self-fulfilment. We aim to generate security, trust, and independence in the child, as well as encouraging them to be polite, considerate, and kind. This prepares them to fit into any situation and to move on to their next school with confidence.

The Little House is a small and beautifully equipped Montessori Nursery School for children between the ages of 2 to 5 years. Established in 1993 by Su Su Lake in Lower Peover, near Knutsford Cheshire, we provide an excellent stepping stone between home and school. With a maximum capacity of fourteen children, two classes, and three qualified and experienced staff members, we offer a unique opportunity for individual attention and a close personal relationship with each child.

Our policy is that each child should be allowed to develop naturally at their own pace. We believe that a teacher should never be a taskmaster but a guide and helper, encouraging positive attitudes, providing stimulus, and laying the foundations for a child to enjoy their work and encourage a continuing interest in what they are learning. Children of this age have an absorbent mind for knowledge, and they desire stimulation. This should be found in a full and exciting environment through which they can explore and learn.

As well as a wide range of educational equipment, we offer daily group activities that include art and craft, topic work, nature study, singing, music, and creative play. Our aim is to develop the whole child and make their day fun. We want each child to look forward to coming to school each day and be sorry to leave us when the time comes for him or her to move on; but he or she should do so, with excitement and a keenness to seize new opportunities.
