Welcome to Acorn Under Fives, a charity pre-school rated 'Outstanding' by OFSTED, providing a nurturing environment for children aged 2 to 5 years. Our dedicated team of staff, situated in the grounds of Oaklands Infant School in Crowthorne, Berkshire, is committed to delivering high-quality Early Years education that fosters exploration, learning, independence, and fun.

At Acorn Under Fives, we believe that every child deserves a childhood filled with wonder, magic, and curiosity. Our passion is to empower and ignite passion and excitement in early childhood, and our culture of curiosity, awe, and wonder is embedded in every aspect of our setting. We understand that before a child can explore their world confidently, they need to feel safe, secure, and loved, which is always our first priority - connection.

Our Services

We offer flexible care for children aged 2 to 5 years, with a range of sessions designed to meet the needs of modern families. Our experienced and qualified staff provide a high-quality educational programme that helps children make progress in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We believe in creating an effective partnership with parents to support and enhance the development of our children, and we provide a framework that supports the development, learning, and care of young children.

Our services include:

• 15 and 30 hours funded places for eligible children
• A safe, secure, and stimulating environment for all children
• Individual care and attention made possible by a high ratio of adults to children
• Observations and assessments to identify priorities and plan relevant and motivating learning experiences for each child
• A key person support system to discuss children's progress with parents
• A highly qualified and experienced team of staff, with a passion for early childhood education

Our Aims

At Acorn Under Fives, our aims are to:

• Provide a flexible approach that responds quickly to children's learning and developing needs
• Serve an educational programme that helps children make progress in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
• Create an effective partnership with parents to support and enhance the development of our children
• Provide a framework that supports the development, learning, and care of young children
• Create opportunities for parents to become directly involved in the day-to-day running of the pre-school
• Provide individual care and attention made possible by a high ratio of adults to children
• Use observations and assessments to identify priorities and plan relevant and motivating learning experiences for each child
• Employ a high percentage of staff with appropriate child care qualifications
