We are a 17th-century coaching inn, located in the heart of Witney, overlooking the historic Market Square. Our History
Originally known as The Marlborough, our inn dates back to the 17th century. For over 200 years, we bore the name of The Marlborough in honour of the Duke, until we restored our original name when we reopened our doors in 2011. Following an extensive restoration, we now offer a 70-seat restaurant, a stylish bar area, a function room, an impressive courtyard, and 20 boutique-style bedrooms.
Our Services
At The Blue Boar, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for our guests. Our restaurant serves a seasonal, Mediterranean-inspired menu, featuring dishes cooked to order on our charcoal-fuelled Josper grill, as well as Neapolitan pizzas freshly prepared by our trained pizzaiolos and cooked in our wood-fired oven. We use fresh produce and quality ingredients, traceable from farm to fork. Our menu caters to all tastes, including a bespoke children's menu and a variety of options for younger guests.
In addition to our elegant dining room, our courtyard offers al fresco dining in comfortable surroundings, while our stylish bar serves an extensive and varied drinks menu, featuring wines, spirits, cocktails, and local beers from Wychwood Brewery and Fuller's. For a more private dining experience, our Bosworth Suite can be tailored to meet your needs, whether you're celebrating a special occasion or planning a corporate lunch.
Our 20 en-suite bedrooms have been sympathetically designed to reflect the uniqueness of the building, with personal touches such as a cosy 'Witney blanket' in each room, celebrating the town's history. We're also proud to sponsor Witney Rugby Club.
