French Antiques & European Paintings Specialists
Rue des Fontenelles was founded by Caroline Mason nearly two decades ago in South West France, where our passion for French antiques, interior design and art began. Our journey started through the restoration of historic properties, which cultivated an appreciation for the unique character that antique pieces bring to spaces. After a decade in France, we returned to the UK and established our base in Chagford on Dartmoor. What began as a physical shop has evolved into a thriving online business, allowing us to reach a broader clientele while maintaining our commitment to quality and authenticity. Our expertise comes from years of hands-on experience restoring properties and curating a selection of fine antiques. We specialise in European paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, including impressionist and post-impressionist works, alongside an extensive collection of French ceramics, glassware and decorative objects. Our knowledge extends to helping clients integrate these pieces into both traditional and contemporary settings. As industry specialists, we have developed trusted relationships with professionals in the field, including reputable auctioneers, ensuring our clients receive reliable service. We offer practical interior design advice based on our extensive experience working with historic properties, helping clients make informed choices about how antiques can enhance their living spaces.
