Academy Background and History

The Chester Guitar Academy has evolved substantially over time. Originally founded by Mike Kennedy, the Academy now boasts a team of 9 teachers, each contributing to the continued development of our students' skills. Mike's background and influences have shaped the Academy's philosophy. In his twenties, he was a member of a rock band called 'The Mags'. The short video documentary below, filmed in New York City in 2006, provides a glimpse into the background and influences that have moulded the Academy.

The Academy functions with a cohesive team of teachers, instructing over a hundred students each week. Our teachers are well-versed in various musical styles and cater to students of all proficiency levels. Academy members enjoy access to our exclusive Facebook Group, enabling them to connect with other guitarists in the Chester area. Regular workshops, open-mic sessions, and jam nights are held for those eager to perform live.
