Enhancing lives with care, dignity, and compassion

Herons Lea Residential Care Home: A Care Home With a Difference

Heron's Lea is a family-owned and managed Residential Care Home situated in the picturesque town of Westward Ho!, North Devon. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of our older clients in their later years by providing exceptional care that respects their privacy, dignity, and personal choice.

Our residential care home is set in three acres of beautifully tended gardens and lawn areas, providing a tranquil and peaceful environment for our residents. The home is a large detached building, constructed in 1924, and boasts an excellent selection of spacious rooms, all of which are superbly decorated in homely designs with bright colours and fittings. Each room is equipped with a television point, WIFI Internet, alarm call points, and a fully addressable fire alarm system installed in March 2019. Ten of our rooms have en-suite facilities, and the remaining nine have wash basins. We also offer respite care for your loved ones, ensuring that they receive the same high-quality care as our long-term residents.

At Herons Lea, we take great pride in providing high-quality furnishings and fabrics, ensuring that our residents feel at home. We welcome personal treasured belongings, recognizing that these are essential when settling into a new home.

Facilities

At Herons Lea, we have two beautiful large lounges, both equipped with wide-screen TVs and reading areas. We have three modern unisex wet rooms/shower rooms and three unisex toilets throughout the property. We use specially adapted disabled equipment, including mobile hoists for immobility, and chair lifts to access the first floor.

Our residents can register with a choice of Practices: Northam, Wooda Surgery, or Bideford, which all provide us with an excellent level of care and commitment. We have District nurses, G.P.'s, and Clergy of all religions who visit regularly. We also have a treatment room, where we offer free optician and dentist visits on a six-monthly basis. Additional services include hairdressing, massage (by a local sports therapist), and chiropody every six weeks.

Food is a critical aspect of our care at Herons Lea. We pride ourselves on providing delicious home-cooked meals daily, using local produce where possible. Our residents' individual tastes are taken into account, and special dietary requirements are catered for.
