Rossmere Academy is a vibrant and inclusive school that is part of the Extol Trust. Our Approach

We believe that every child is unique and special, and we strive to provide a curriculum that is tailored to meet the needs of all our learners. Our curriculum is designed to be engaging, challenging, and relevant to the lives of our students, and we place a strong emphasis on personal development, as well as academic achievement. We believe that this holistic approach helps to foster confident, curious, and creative individuals who are equipped to thrive in an ever-changing world.

We offer a wide range of services to support the educational and personal development of our students. These include:

Curriculum Provision

Our curriculum is designed to be exciting, engaging, and relevant to the lives of our students. We offer a broad range of subjects, including art, computing, design and technology, English, geography, history, maths, music, phonics and reading, physical education, PSHE, relationships and sex education, religious education, science, and Spanish.

Personal Development

We place a strong emphasis on personal development, and offer a range of activities and opportunities to help our students develop their skills and interests. These include residential visits, extra-curricular activities, junior leadership, and mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

Early Years Provision

Our early years provision is designed to be nurturing and stimulating, and we offer a range of activities and opportunities to help our youngest students develop their skills and abilities.

Forest School

Our forest school is a unique and exciting opportunity for our students to learn and develop in a natural environment. We offer a range of activities and experiences, including forest school activities, forest school facilities, forest school news and events, and forest school parties.

SEND Support

We offer a range of support services for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including an additionally resourced provision, Rossmere approaches to SEND, SEND admissions, SEND code of practice 0-25 years, SEND inclusion, accessibility and information report, SEND links, and SEND partnerships.

Goverance and Leadership

We have a governing body that is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the school, and a leadership team that is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school.

Performance and Results

We place a strong emphasis on academic achievement, and strive to ensure that our students make good progress and achieve the best possible results. We publish regular reports and updates on our performance and results, including achievement data, Ofsted reports, pupil premium and recovery premium, sport premium, and coronavirus catch-up premium.

We have a range of policies in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, including safeguarding policies, SEND policies, and policies for reporting and managing behaviour.
