Experience the Taste of Forfar - Home Cooking at its Best

The Castle Club is a well-established, family-run restaurant that has been serving the community of Forfar, Angus since 1987. Founded by Fred and Linda McBride and their two sons, Andy and Mark, the restaurant is now managed by Andy, who continues the tradition of providing quality homemade food made from local produce. Our customer base includes business people, caravanners, tourists, families with children, and couples of all ages who are celebrating or simply enjoying a night out.

Food and Wine

Our menus vary from plain Scottish fare to dishes with a Continental or Asian Twist, all cooked on the premises using fresh local ingredients. Our wine list will satisfy most tastes and is sold by the glass or the bottle at reasonable prices. We offer snacks, lunches, high teas, and evening meals from Monday to Saturday, and high teas on Sundays. Our festive menus are also available during the holiday season.

Local Attractions

Our location in Forfar, Angus, gives easy access to Glen Isla, Glen Prosen, and other beauty spots. Forfar has its own one hundred-year-old golf course, and there are other courses within a half-hour's drive, including Kirriemuir, Strathmore, Glen Isla, Alyth, Monifieth, and the world-famous Carnoustie. Four miles west is Glamis Castle, the ancestral home of the Bowes-Lyon family, of which the late Queen Mother was a member. The castle hosts an annual "prom" which includes performances by the Scottish National Orchestra playing classical music accompanied by firework displays. The loch supports a variety of birdlife and has sailing facilities. Visitors to the area can stay in the caravan park which is unique as it is practically in the town itself and is easy walking distance to the town centre. The other loch is Rascobie Loch which is popular with anglers as it is well-stocked with trout and is approximately three miles out of town. The area is steeped in Pictish history. The "Standing Stones" at Aberlemno give testimony to Pictish existence and culture. The Meffan Gallery and Museum is a fountain of knowledge in that regard. The town of Forfar and surrounding area has much to offer to the discerning traveler and The Castle Club alike can provide an excellent experience in dining out in Forfar.
