At St. Mary's Voluntary Controlled Church of England Primary School, we strive to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that inspires our children to learn, grow, and thrive. With a long history dating back to 1861, our school has been an integral part of the Bridgwater community for over 150 years. As a Church School, we are proud to have strong links with St. Mary's Church in the centre of town, and we actively promote Christian values and principles in our daily activities.

As a 14-class primary school, we cater to children from 4 to 11 years old, with an on-site nursery providing education and care for children from 2 to 4 years old. Our dedicated team of teachers, support staff, and governors work together to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that fosters a sense of belonging and community among our pupils, parents, and staff.

Our curriculum is designed to be engaging, challenging, and relevant to the needs of our children. We aim to provide a broad and balanced education that prepares our pupils for future success, whether they choose to pursue further education or join the workforce. We believe in the importance of a well-rounded education that encompasses not only academic subjects but also arts, sports, and social skills.

We are proud of our achievements and accomplishments, including our successful sports teams, thriving music and arts programs, and enthusiastic participation in local and national competitions. Our school is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that values diversity, inclusivity, and individuality.

At St. Mary's, we believe that education is a partnership between the school, parents, and community. We encourage active participation from our parents, carers, and the local community through various channels, such as regular newsletters, parent-teacher associations, and volunteer programs. Our open-door policy ensures that parents and carers are kept informed about their child's progress and are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas on how to improve our school.

Ultimately, our goal is to educate the whole child, developing their intellectual, creative, physical, and emotional capabilities to the best of their ability. We strive to empower our pupils with the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to become confident, compassionate, and responsible global citizens.
