Nurturing the Future, One Child at a Time
Welcome to Cherubs Nurseries, a leading provider of childcare services in the East Midlands. We are a family-run business with a rich history that spans over two decades. Our journey began in 1993 when our founder, Susan Mills, struggled to find a suitable nursery for her first child. This experience inspired her to establish her own nursery, built on the principles of high-quality care, education, and support for both children and parents.
At Cherubs Nurseries, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. We understand that every child is unique, and we tailor our approach to meet their individual needs and interests. Our team of experienced and qualified educators work closely with families to ensure a smooth transition for children into nursery life and to support their ongoing development.
Our Approach
At Cherubs Nurseries, we have developed our own blended approach to early years, drawing on long-trusted teaching methods, the latest research, our own experience, and the voices of our people and the families we serve. Our approach is underpinned by four main schools of thought: Montessori, Hygge, Reggio, and Forest School.
The Montessori approach is holistic and aims to develop the whole child. It is based on the belief that children are natural learners who are driven by their curiosity and desire to explore the world around them. Our Montessori-inspired environments provide children with hands-on learning experiences that foster independence, concentration, and a love of learning.
Hygge is a Danish concept that focuses on creating a warm, cosy, and welcoming environment that promotes wellbeing and happiness. At Cherubs Nurseries, we incorporate hygge into our daily routines and practices, creating a sense of belonging and community for children, families, and staff.
The Reggio approach is based on the belief that children are active participants in their own learning. It emphasizes the importance of the environment as the "third teacher" and encourages children to explore, investigate, and express themselves through a variety of mediums. Our Reggio-inspired environments are designed to be flexible, adaptable, and responsive to children's interests and ideas.
The Forest School approach is rooted in the natural world and promotes outdoor learning and play. It encourages children to develop a sense of respect and appreciation for the environment and to learn through exploration, discovery, and hands-on experiences. Our Forest School-inspired environments provide children with opportunities to connect with nature, develop their physical skills, and build their confidence and resilience.
