Mears Carpets is a family-run business that has been serving the Preston community for over 200 years. With a rich history dating back to 1802, we have established ourselves as a trusted and reliable supplier of high-quality carpets, laminate, vinyl, engineered wood, and luxury vinyl tiles.
Our Story
Founded by the Mears family in Fishergate, Preston, our business has been passed down through six generations. Initially, we were brush manufacturers and wholesale and retail hardware merchants, but we quickly diversified into other merchandise, including toys, leather goods, carpets, and furniture. After a fire destroyed half of our Friargate buildings in 1984, we decided to specialize solely in carpets and flooring. This decision proved to be an immediate success, and we have since expanded our business to supply major house builders, factories, offices, universities, hotels, hospitals, and government departments throughout the UK.
