Award-Winning Family Farm Shop & Garden Experience
Established in 1920, Hillers is a fourth-generation family-run business rooted in horticultural excellence and community service. Our operations began as fruit farmers supplying national markets, evolving into a multifaceted rural enterprise that now includes an award-winning farm shop, garden cafe, and extensive visitor attractions. We prioritise local provenance, sourcing produce from within a 10-mile radius whenever possible, and maintain longstanding partnerships with regional growers and suppliers. Our commitment to quality is evidenced by accolades such as Best Local Food Retailer in the Midlands and Champion of Local Produce awards. With over 90 staff members, many of whom have served for decades, we combine traditional values with modern sustainability practices, including rainwater harvesting systems and biodegradable packaging. The business is currently led by sisters Sally Haines and Emma Taylor, who continue to innovate while preserving the core principles of freshness, local support, and exceptional customer service that have defined Hillers for a century.

Questions
What makes Hillers different from supermarkets?
We source 90% of produce from local growers within 10 miles, guaranteeing fresher products and supporting regional agriculture through direct partnerships.
Are all your products locally sourced?
While we prioritise local suppliers, we also offer specialist items from further afield. Our signage indicates the origin of each product, with most produce picked within 24 hours of sale.
How has Hillers adapted to modern challenges?
We transitioned from pick-your-own to sophisticated packing facilities in the 1980s, introduced polythene tunnels for sustainable growing, and expanded into dining and visitor attractions while maintaining core farming values.
What sustainability initiatives do you implement?
We use rainwater harvesting systems, biodegradable packaging, and convert food waste to pig feed. Our polythene tunnels reduce chemical use, and we promote box reuse over plastic bags.
Can visitors access all facilities year-round?
The Sandpit operates year-round, while seasonal attractions like pick-your-own strawberries run May-July. The miniature railway operates weekends and school holidays, with gardens open daily.
