Celebrating the best of Sussex by the season, one dish at a time.

Welcome to Webbe's, a collection of three contemporary restaurants in three fantastic East Sussex locations: The Wild Mushroom in the village of Westfield, Webbe's at the Fish Cafe in Rye, and Webbe's Rock-a-Nore in Hastings Old Town, as well as our esteemed Cookery School. Our ethos is to serve excellent fresh food, with care and attention to detail, in a professional discreet manner, offering the very best of customer service and satisfaction, in a style unique to Webbe's.

Our Philosophy

At Webbe's, we believe in celebrating the best of Sussex by the season. Each of our restaurants is unique in design and the type of experience it offers, with pricing and menus that change throughout the year with the seasons, so you can enjoy trying every one. Our philosophy is built around serving fresh, locally sourced ingredients, carefully crafted into delicious dishes that showcase the best of Sussex's produce.

Our History

Chef Owner Paul Webbe and his wife Rebecca established The Wild Mushroom in 1998, inspired by their love of foraging. Over the years, their collection of successful, individually stylish restaurants and Cookery School grew entirely from their passion for the wonderful, wild, and natural ingredients on their doorstep in Rye Bay and Westfield areas and Hastings Old Town. In 2004, they opened Webbe's at the Fish Cafe in Rye, a family-friendly restaurant offering the freshest local fish with an open plan kitchen. In 2009, they added Webbe's Rock-a-Nore to their family, situated opposite the net huts and small boats of the Hastings fishing fleet. In 2010, Webbe's Cookery School was launched, offering a unique "hands-on" experience where customers can learn a variety of cooking techniques under Paul Webbe's careful supervision and gentle tuition.

Our Services

At Webbe's, we offer a range of services to suit every taste and occasion. From our award-winning restaurants, where you can enjoy exquisite dishes crafted from the freshest local ingredients, to our Cookery School, where you can learn the art of cooking from our expert chefs. We also offer gift vouchers, perfect for birthdays, Christmas, or just because you want to treat that special someone! Additionally, we host a range of events throughout the year, from foraging workshops to wine and food pairing events, so be sure to check our events calendar for the latest updates.
