Unlocking Talent, Unlocking Growth
At The Barns Cafe, we are passionate about providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere where our customers can relax and enjoy high-quality food and drink. Our story began centuries ago, when the farm barns were built as part of Northcourt Farm, and today, we are proud to be a thriving community hub in the heart of North Abingdon.
Our Story
Our journey began when the people of Christ Church decided to bring the old barns back to life, creating a space that would bring the community together. After years of hard work, the vision became a reality, and we opened our doors in May 2013. Since then, we have been staffed by a team of over 70 volunteers from churches in and around Abingdon, who bring their individual gifts, skills, and love for Jesus to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our Services
We take pride in serving high-quality, ethically sourced food and drink, including handcrafted coffees, carefully brewed loose-leaf teas, and a wide range of delicious cakes and light bites. Our menu is carefully crafted to cater to all tastes and dietary requirements, and we strive to provide exceptional customer service to ensure that every visit is a memorable one. Whether you're looking for a relaxing spot to catch up with friends, a quiet space to work, or a venue for a special occasion, we have something for everyone.
Our Team
Our team is made up of friendly part-time volunteers supported by some paid staff, including our full-time manager, Annie, and part-time supervisors, Jo and Hannah. We also have a part-time administrator, Jo. We gather and pray as small teams regularly, and as a whole team three times a year, which helps to foster a sense of community and teamwork.
Our Values
At The Barns Cafe, we are committed to providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels valued and respected. We strive to be a place where people can come together, build relationships, and feel a sense of belonging. We believe in the importance of community and are proud to be a part of the fabric of North Abingdon.
