Building on tradition, built on trust

Situated between the charming towns of Windsor and Maidenhead, in the heart of Berkshire, you will find Spanish Bit Riding School & Livery, an esteemed establishment with a rich history spanning four decades. As a British Horse Society (BHS) and Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) approved riding school, as well as an official BHS Pony Stars centre, we take great pride in our commitment to providing top-notch instruction and livery services for riders of all ages and abilities.

Our dedicated team, led by Jill, Keith, and Hayley, boasts a wealth of experience in the equestrian world. With a combined experience of over 55 years in the industry, we are well-equipped to offer unparalleled guidance and support to our clients. At Spanish Bit Riding School & Livery, we are passionate about fostering a love for riding and horsemanship in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Our Aim

Our primary objective is to ensure that all of our riders have a fun and memorable experience, while prioritizing their safety. It is important to remember that horses can be unpredictable animals, and as such, riders participate at their own risk. Our experienced instructors are here to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle these magnificent creatures with confidence and ease.

For those just beginning their equestrian journey, we have a fantastic selection of well-trained horses and ponies that will help you build a strong foundation. Our expert team will carefully assess your abilities and recommend the most suitable lesson to kickstart your riding adventure.

Pony Stars

In collaboration with the British Horse Society, we are proud to offer Pony Stars, our Junior Challenge Awards programme. This initiative is designed to cultivate children's love for ponies and the great outdoors, with over 100 engaging topics for them to explore. Participants will receive their very own My Challenge Book to document their achievements and collect stickers, badges, and rosettes along the way. The programme is divided into four age groups, each with a corresponding set of challenges and activities tailored to their developmental stage. The cost of the Pony Stars book is 16.99 and can be purchased in our office.

Pony Days

Our Pony Days are immensely popular during school holidays and are a fantastic opportunity for children to gain confidence around ponies, learn essential stable management skills, and make new friends. These full-day activities are suitable for children who already participate in our group lessons and include at least two hours of riding, with the remainder of the day dedicated to various pony-related activities. A packed lunch and appropriate clothing are essential. Please note, a 48-hour cancellation policy is in place for all Pony Days.

Junior Dressage/Jumping Days

These days offer children the opportunity to learn and practice riding a dressage test or a jumping course in the morning, culminating in a competition in the afternoon. These events are perfect for those looking to enhance their riding skills and enjoy a fun-filled day with their fellow riders.

Upcoming Events

Please check our website for all upcoming school holiday activities. All events are subject to a strict 48-hour cancellation policy.
