Our Founder: Kate Ampomah

Eat & Mess is the brainchild of Kate Ampomah, a passionate baker who honed her craft in the bustling kitchens of London and San Francisco. Kate's love for baking began as a child, and she pursued her passion by earning a degree in English from Cambridge University. However, her true calling was in the world of baking, and she moved to America to specialise in Bread and Pastry.

Upon returning to the UK, Kate set up Eat & Mess to share her love for baking with the world. Our bakery specialises in working with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients and heritage grains. Our small team of dedicated bakers produces each order with care, ensuring that every item meets our high standards of quality.

Our Bakery

Our bakery is located on the seafront in Deal, where we produce stock for delivery all over East Kent. We also run our popular baking workshops from our bakery, where we teach students hands-on skills in an informal kitchen environment. Our classes are designed to be practical and relaxed, and students can expect lots of hands-on skills taught over a cuppa and some brownies!
