Lansdown Pottery is a thriving pottery studio situated in the picturesque village of Whiteshill, overlooking the market town of Stroud in Gloucestershire, UK. Established in 1999 by Penny and John West, the studio has become synonymous with the creation of high-quality, functional stoneware, fired in outdoor kilns. The studio has two distinct ranges: Lansdown Pottery and John West's individual ceramic pieces.

Our Studio

In 2013, we converted some farm outbuildings into our current studio, showroom, and home. Surrounded by the rural beauty of the Gloucestershire countryside, we have been able to develop our ranges of functional stoneware, becoming known for our distinctive domestic stoneware under the Lansdown Pottery name. John has also created a range of individual ceramic pieces, wood and soda fired, which are exhibited and sold under his own name.

Where to See Our Work

  • The Studio, Hill Farm: Our showroom is located in an old shepherd's cottage where visitors can browse our collections in peace. Please contact us on 01453 298567 to check we are there before visiting.
  • Stroud Farmers Market: We have a stall selling Lansdown Pottery and some soda fired work on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.
