WJ Henderson Optometrists, an independent family-owned practice, has a rich history dating back to 1939 when it was established at 59 South Methven Street Perth by partners Lennie and Thompson. Originally seen as the 'sister practice' to their Dundee operation, the Perth location gained its current name in 1983 when Bill Henderson took over as sole proprietor. Although Bill retired in 2003, the practice remains in the Henderson family, providing the community with exceptional eye care services.
As an independent practice, we are not bound by corporate policies, enabling us to offer personalised services and products tailored to the specific needs of our patients. Our primary goal is to deliver an exceptional standard of eye care within our community. We are proud to be an NHS Scotland registered practice, providing free eye care and glasses to our patients, subject to status and funded by NHS Scotland.

Our team is a blend of experienced professionals and enthusiastic newcomers, providing a warm and friendly environment for our patients. Ross Henderson, our longest-serving member, has been with the practice for 56 3/4 years, while Rachael (with an 'a') joined us most recently in January of this year. Our team members include:

At WJ Henderson Optometrists, we provide a wide range of eye care services, including comprehensive vision and health checks, children's eye care, myopia management, and information on common eye conditions. We utilise some of the most advanced technology available, such as OCT scanning, to assess your eye health and vision. Additionally, we offer annual contact lens checks and free lens trials for those interested in contact lenses.
Ortho-K (Night Lenses) and colorimetry services are also available. For patients experiencing myopia progression, we offer myopia management solutions. For those experiencing visual stress, our colorimetry service provides relief with coloured lenses.

We pride ourselves on our diverse frame range, which includes classic, contemporary, and designer brands such as Rayban and Emporio Armani. Each frame is carefully selected with quality, comfort, and style in mind, ensuring we cater to all budgets. Our complete spectacles, including lenses, start from 58, or are free with an NHS Voucher. WJ Henderson Optometrists are a Zeiss Platinum Partner, allowing us to provide our patients with the many benefits of lenses from Zeiss - the world's leading manufacturer of precision optics. We also offer various lens options, including single vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses.
