Our Story

At Portland Nurseries, we are proud to be a family-owned and run group of six day nurseries, providing high-quality care and education to children in the Huddersfield and Halifax area. Our journey began in 1991, when our founder, Rosemary Murphy OBE, opened the first nursery, Portland House. Since then, we have grown and expanded, acquiring and opening new nurseries, while maintaining our commitment to providing exceptional care and education.

Our Team

Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional care and education. With a combined experience of over 100 years, our staff are highly skilled and qualified, with many holding diplomas or degrees in early years education. We pride ourselves on our staff's ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and each other, creating a sense of community and teamwork.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to foster a love of learning, creativity, and independence. We believe in learning through play, utilising our outdoor spaces to encourage exploration and discovery. Our experienced educators deliver engaging activities, tailored to each child's interests and needs, ensuring that every child makes progress and achieves their full potential.

Nurseries

We operate six nurseries across Huddersfield and Halifax, each with its own unique character and charm. Our nurseries are designed to provide a welcoming and stimulating environment, where children can learn, play, and socialise. From Harlequin to Oakwood House Forest School, each nursery offers a fantastic learning experience.
