Empowering children to be happy, fulfilled and successful
At Barby CE Primary School, we are proud to be a small, friendly, rural school with a welcoming ethos where children are at the heart of all that we do. Our unique, caring and family atmosphere is rooted in Christian values and our professional relationships with each other, the children, and our families.
Our Vision and Values
Our school values are built on the core principles of mutual respect, empathy, and inclusivity. We believe that every child is unique and deserves a nurturing environment where they can thrive. We foster a positive and respectful attitude towards others, and we encourage our children to develop social, emotional, and moral skills to help them become responsible citizens.
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded education, enabling children to develop their academic, creative, and physical abilities. We offer a range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, Art, Design Technology, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Humanities, and Physical Education. Our Early Years Foundation Stage programme provides a stimulating and engaging start to our children's educational journey.
Our Staff
Our staff team is highly professional and motivated to ensure the very best for all our children. We recruit staff who share our values and are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment. We believe in regular training and staff development to ensure our staff stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and best practices.
Our Community
We believe that education is a partnership between parents, children, and school. We encourage parents to participate in school life through regular parent-teacher meetings, festivals, and events. We also engage with the local community through partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community groups.
Our Facilities
Our school has a beautiful site with outdoor spaces, including a natural spinney, large outdoor classroom, trim trail, house gardens, games field, and playground. We also have a contemplation garden planned for the future. Inside, the school is bright and welcoming, with children's work on display throughout the walls.
Our Aim
Our aim is to equip children with the skills, knowledge, and values to succeed in life. We believe that children should be happy at school, with opportunities to develop as individuals. We strive to provide a rounded education that acknowledges the importance of academic achievement, as well as social, emotional, and physical development.

School Experience
The reviews for this school are mixed, with some parents having positive experiences while others have had negative ones. The common thread among the negative reviews is the issue with the head teacher, Mrs. Angela Tilson. One parent, Amy Leighton, states that the head teacher tries to force religion on the students, which made her feel uncomfortable. She does, however, mention that the school has a lovely atmosphere and feels like a family.
Bullying and Head Teacher Concerns
A more serious concern is raised by Bradley White, who was bullied at the school and says that the head teacher did nothing to stop it. He claims that he was physically and emotionally bullied, and that the head teacher's inaction made him go through depression. He also mentions that the head teacher should be fired and hopes that the new head teacher will make a positive change.
Conclusions
The reviews highlight the importance of a supportive and understanding head teacher, as well as a positive school environment. Despite some parents having pleasant experiences, the negative comments from both parents suggest that there are significant issues with the school that need to be addressed.
