Why an Eye Examination is Important
During a comprehensive eye exam, our optometrists do much more than just determine your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses. We also check your eyes for common eye diseases, assess how your eyes work together as a team, and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health.
NHS Health Checks
In Scotland, your eye examination is paid for by the NHS under the term "General Ophthalmic Services" (GOS). This means that you can receive a comprehensive eye examination for free, which includes a detailed assessment of your eye health and an examination for any eye diseases.

Service and Staff
The reviewers have had excellent experiences with the staff and service at Irvine's Opticians. Norma Seith was impressed with the helpfulness, politeness, and considerate attitude of the staff when she returned her glasses to have the lenses changed. Rose Snow found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and appreciated the clean and tidy environment. In contrast, Willy Donachie had a poor experience with the staff, who seemed unhelpful and only interested in selling new and expensive products.
Product Selection
Irvine's Opticians has a wonderful selection of glasses, according to both Norma Seith and Rose Snow. They praised the variety of frames and the attention to detail. Willy Donachie did not comment on the product selection.
Reparation Services
Willy Donachie had a negative experience with the repair service at Irvine's Opticians. He found the staff unhelpful and unable to assist with a simple repair to his glasses.
