About Us
Established in 1982 by John Wigfield and David Slade, Cubley Hall is a wonderful, old, rescued country house set in 4.5 acres of stunningly beautiful South Yorkshire countryside, located just on the edge of the ancient market town of Penistone and close to the Yorkshire Cities of Sheffield, Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford. A high-quality, pub and dining experience is complemented by 12 recently refurbished hotel bedrooms. Cubley Hall is one of Yorkshire's premier choice wedding venues. Cubley Hall employs 62 local people and provides a safe and responsible community hub to the local area.
Our Hotel Rooms

Dining and Drinking
Indulge in the world of exquisite flavours served daily in the bar. From a range of the finest local real ales (Cask Marque approved) to our extensive selection of lagers, ciders, spirits, wines and seasonal cocktails. The main bar is the heart of Cubley Hall. Be it a special occasion, a romantic meal or a quick pint whilst walking the dog we welcome and embrace everyone.

Private event rooms are available to book for all occasions; Funeral Teas, Community Meetings, Business Meetings & many more. Our events co-ordinator can discuss and customise your catering and room requirements to suit your needs. Food and Drinks
The food quality was a major concern for some reviewers. Mima Hope mentioned that the pub has gone downhill in terms of food quality, with the fish and chips being particularly disappointing. Marc Newbury also had a poor experience with the food, stating that the cheesy garlic bread had uncooked dough and the soup of the day was bland. Denise Woodcock was not impressed with her grandson's cheese pasta, which was swimming in sauce.
On the other hand, some reviewers had positive experiences with the food. John Hammersley praised the menu, saying that the quality is good every time and great value. Tony Beeley enjoyed the large portions and thought the food was exceptional. Sarah Jane Wells loved the meat and potato pie, and Katherine raved about the Chargrilled Steak sandwich.
Service
Some reviewers had issues with the service. Mima Hope mentioned that the staff seemed to change constantly and were not very attentive. John Mason had a bad experience with a stern-faced lady who was unprofessional and had a bad attitude.
However, many reviewers praised the staff for being friendly and efficient. Tony Beeley mentioned that the service was exceptional, and Sarah Jane Wells thought the staff were professional and efficient. Adam King thanked Catherine and Laura for taking good care of him, and Dawn Hanson praised the staff for being friendly and professional.
Ambience and Location
The location and ambience of the pub were praised by many reviewers. Delazinsky mentioned that the pub has a nice beer garden and a great view across Penistone. Vic Wotherspoon enjoyed the outdoor space and the great views. Mary Nikoloff loved the warm and beautiful ambience created during a live music event.
Overnight Stays
Some reviewers stayed overnight at the pub and had mixed experiences. Edward Wood enjoyed the comfortable rooms and warm welcome, and Dawn Hanson praised the hotel for being fabulous and having professional and friendly staff. Jan Huscroft had an amazing day at a wedding, but was disappointed with the breakfast the next morning.
