At Newmachar Golf Club, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional golfing experience for our members and visitors alike. Our 18-hole courses, designed by the renowned architect Dave Thomas, offer a challenging and enjoyable round of golf in the beautiful Scottish countryside.
Our Courses
We are proud to offer two outstanding 18-hole courses, each with its unique characteristics and challenges. The Hawkshill Championship Course is an idyllic heathland course, providing a tough challenge for all levels of golfer. Designed to test the skills of even the most experienced golfers, the course features mature silver birch and Scots pine trees, as well as strategically placed water hazards and bunkers. The Swailend Course, designed and opened in June 1997, is a parkland course with wider and more forgiving fairways, making it accessible to all standards of golfer.
Our Facilities
Our facilities are designed to provide the perfect environment for golfers to practice and improve their game. Our floodlit 10-bay Driving Range is fully open to members and the public, offering the perfect location to work on your game. Each bay is equipped with 'Trackman' ball tracing technology, allowing you to analyse and track your practice sessions. Additional facilities include a short-game area, practice putting green, and our impressive Hawk Wok restaurant and bar.

Our Professional Shop offers a wide range of golfing equipment and accessories, as well as expert guidance on equipment fitting and customisation. Our golf lessons and coaching services are designed to improve your game, with expert tuition from our experienced professionals. Getting Involved
We invite you to visit our clubhouse, where you'll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and socialising with fellow golfers. Our Hawk Wok restaurant offers a range of delicious meals and refreshments, while our well-stocked bar is always happy to accommodate your requirements.
Golf Courses and Facilities
The Hawkshill and Swailend golf courses are considered to be great and challenging, with the latter being quite hilly and requiring a buggy for some players. The courses are well-maintained, with good conditions, nice greens, tee boxes, and fairways. However, one reviewer noted that the Hawkshill course was in poor condition when they played in July 2021.
Practice Facilities and Driving Range
The driving range is considered to be relatively affordable and is connected to the Trackman application, allowing users to track their shots. The facilities are well-managed and clean, but one reviewer noted that the practice mat is old and may need to be replaced soon.
Clubhouse and Restaurant
The clubhouse is described as great, with superb facilities, and the restaurant is worth trying even if you're not playing golf. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the food is excellent.
Overall Experience
Many reviewers had a lovely time at the golf course, with some considering it to be one of the best they've played. The grounds and clubhouse are clean and well-kept, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
