Downfield Golf Club, nestled in the heart of Dundee, boasts a rich history and has established itself as one of Scotland's most esteemed inland courses. Founded in 1895, the club has proudly hosted numerous prestigious championships and provided golfers with a challenging and enjoyable experience for over a century.
A Legacy of Tradition
Our origins date back to a time when Downfield was a separate village. The first glimpses of golf in the area existed on a nine-hole course named "Baldovan, " with reports suggesting the clubhouse was a repurposed horse-drawn tramcar. Over the years, the club evolved, extending to 18 holes and undergoing several transformations to accommodate the changing landscape and membership demands.
A Championship-Hosting Venue
Downfield Golf Club has the distinct honour of hosting numerous prestigious tournaments, including:
- The Open Final Qualifying (1999, 2007)
- Seniors Open Qualifying (2010, 2016, 2024)
- Scottish Amateur Championship (2014)
- Scottish PGA Championship (2019)
- R&A Women's and Girls Home Internationals (2019)
- Tartan Pro Tour (2023)
