Taste the difference, farm to table, every time

Our Story

Yummy Yorkshire is the culmination of a passion for artisan ice cream and a commitment to preserving the family farming heritage. Our journey began in 2007 when Jeremy and Louise Holmes, a third-generation dairy farmer and his wife, decided to create a unique ice cream business on their family farm in the heart of the Pennine Yorkshire countryside.

From Farm to Freezer

The story of Yummy Yorkshire is one of innovation and creativity. With an initial investment of 24,000, Jeremy and Louise set out to create a product that reflected their entrepreneurial spirit and love for ice cream. The result was a distinctive blend of flavours and textures that quickly gained recognition and accolades. The couple's commitment to using only the freshest, high-quality ingredients and their dedication to mastering the art of ice cream-making earned them a reputation as one of the region's leading artisan ice cream producers.

The Parlour

As the business grew, Jeremy and Louise saw an opportunity to increase footfall on the farm and create a unique destination for customers. In 2008, they opened an 19-seater ice cream parlour, offering a basic food menu and a range of ice cream flavours that quickly became a hit with customers. The parlour's rustic charm and scenic views of the surrounding countryside made it the perfect spot for families and friends to relax and enjoy a treat.

Awards and Recognition

The success of Yummy Yorkshire has been acknowledged with a series of prestigious awards. The couple has won 18 Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Foods, solidifying their reputation as expert ice cream-makers. These awards, combined with their commitment to quality and customer service, have earned Yummy Yorkshire a loyal following and a reputation as one of the North's leading ice cream producers.

The Hide & Hoof Restaurant

In 2017, Jeremy and Louise took the next step in their business journey by opening The Hide & Hoof, an 80-seater restaurant at the heart of their farm. The restaurant is designed to complement their ice cream parlour, offering a range of delicious meals and snacks in a rustic, countryside setting. With a team of 30 local employees, including 6 chefs, The Hide & Hoof is committed to serving high-quality, locally sourced produce and continuing the tradition of exceptional customer service that has made Yummy Yorkshire a household name.

The Market on the Farm

As part of their ongoing commitment to the local community, Jeremy and Louise have created a market on the farm, featuring a range of artisanal products from local suppliers. The market offers customers the opportunity to taste and purchase a variety of delicious treats, from fresh bread to handmade chocolates and, of course, Yummy Yorkshire's famous ice cream.
