Our Story
Nestled in the charming town of Ilkley, The Box Tree is one of the oldest buildings in the area, dating back to 1720. Our story began when the property was bought by businessman Septimus Wray, who developed the site for business purposes. It was during this period that the distinctive Box Tree was first planted in the front garden, giving the property its name.
Over the years, The Box Tree has undergone several transformations, from an antique shop to a tearoom, before finally opening as a fine dining restaurant in 1962. Under the guidance of renowned chefs such as Michael Truelove, Edward Denny, and Marco Pierre White, we have continued to push the boundaries of culinary excellence.

Our Head Chef, Brayden Davies, brings a refined and modern approach to his cuisine, using only the finest ingredients and subtle influences from his Australian heritage.
